Global Learning

We have been learning all about the world with our Flat Students coming back from all over the world. We have had Flat Students from France, Belize, Oregon, Michigan, and almost anywhere else you can imagine. I have thoroughly enjoyed learning along with the students and enjoying all of the special treats too.

This week we have been researching the Big Five from Africa and learning how many African Animals are endangered. We completed our research by using computers, videos, and non fiction books. While learning this the students decided they again wanted to adopt an animal. We voted and decided on an elephant. The total amount of money we will need to raise is $55.00. We will do this by the students working at home to earn money at home, we are going to try to make something to sell to help earn money and we will donate any money left over we need from our Spring Fling.

Today we had a special visit from a friend and former VIF (visiting international faculty) teacher at CFIE from England. She taught us that it takes 8 hours to fly to NC from England, that sidewalk is called pavement, a cookie is called a biscuit, trash is called rubbish, a trash can is called a rubbish bin and pants are called trousers. The students thought her accent was wonderful and she was beautiful. A big shout out to Lizzie Dedman for the visit all the way from London, England.
